Pamutan is a bgy. that is located in upper Labangon, Cebu City. It has only 1,425 population in the said area. Going to that place isn’t difficult. You can ride a habal-habal(motorcycle for hire) in Punta, Labangon and it only cost you Php 35.
It was around 4 in the afternoon that I decided to go with my friends in Pamutan. We met in Gaisano Metro in Colon(the middle meeting place from south to north area). I was so excited to see the place and so I didn’t bring much of my clothes since we planned to stay there overnight. One of our companion,Malyn(the owner of the house) was very late that we had to wait for almost 4 hours inside the mall. The moment she arrived, we ride a jeepney bound to Labangon. It only cost Php 7 since the place isn’t that far. We dropped off in Punta, Labangon beside the Tita Gwapa’s minimart. Then we headed to Pamutan via habal-habal(motorcycle for hire). While on the road, I felt the midnight breeze brushed through my hair down to my toe(coz im wearing slippers that time). My body started to feel the freezing temperature and begun to shake like I’m inside the fridge. We passed through Buhisan Dam(water supplier in Labangon) with those thick tall trees beside the cliff. Our only light is from the motorcycle and there’s nothing more because there we’re no post lamps along the way. It was so dark that I can’t help myself of thinking “I might see ghosts behind those trees!”. I also heard crickets everywhere. When we reached the top of the hill, I saw the wonderful beauty of the city lights at night. Then I told myself “so this my hometown during night time”.
Dancing lights at night
After 40 minutes of travel we finally arrived in Malyn’s home crib. We are very much welcome in their house and greeted her parent’s “Good Evening” as a sign of respect. Our travel made my tummy hungry and luckily her Mama made coffee for our midnight snacks. WEe!! Thank God I didn’t sleep with a starving stomach. Still I felt my body shivering and some part of my body started to get numb. The hot coffee was just nothing for the frosty temperature of the area. After few chitchats Malyn’s mother provided us mats, pillows and blankets. It was already 1 am when we decided to sleep because we felt so tired and exhausted.
At 5 in the morning, I woke up excited to see the environment of the house. My friend Kat(tomboy friend) was still sleeping and I didn’t mind to woke her up. When I opened the door…. this is what I saw..
Green ambiance of the place
We are actually surrounded with mountains that is why I felt so cold last night. The freezing temperature is expected when you are somewhere part of the mountain specially during night time.
The other side of the mountain
Inhale,Exhale fresh air!
While waiting for Kat and Malyn to wake up, I roamed around and took some shots of the view and the surroundings.
Fresh flowers and green leaves
After few minutes, the two sleepy heads woke up. While Malyn prepared our breakfast, Kat and I went down to the river to familiarize the place and to at least satisfy our craving for nature.
On our way to the river
This is Kat my buddy This is me enjoying the view
The clear water
There is life in a rock
I want to swim!haha
The fresh air plus the clear water made me feel like a child. I wanted to swim and play in the river like what I always dream of when I was just a kid. We didn’t stay long in the river because we we’re hungry. On our way back to the house I saw my dream house! And I took snapshots without second thoughts that the owner might get mad at me taking pictures without permission.
My dream house (nipa hut)
When we arrived in the house and we saw Malyn cooking in their dirty kitchen.
We are helping Malyn because we’re hungry
And finally the AMPALAYA w/ egg is ready to serve!
While Malyn was so busy preparing our foods in the dining area. Kat and I were so busy taking up pictures at the back of their dirty kitchen.
At the back of Malyn’s house
After our breakfast… we spent our time taking up pictures again in the table.
Too lazy to wash the dishes
After few minutes Malyn volunteered to wash the dishes and Kat ironed Malyn’s uniform. While I was too busy roaming around and taking some shots in their garden.
This me
While Kat was so busy
Few of my shots in the garden(I love macro shots!)
When they finished their task. We prepared and packed our things back to the city. We asked permission to Malyn’s parents as a sign of respect. Then went down to the habal-habal’s parking area and headed back to the city proper.
This is the 3 of us riding a habal-habal(motorcycle for hire) 1st is Malyn, 2nd Manong driver, 3rd Kat, and I’m the last passenger
On our way I took pictures of the environment. This is what we came through last night.
This is Buhisan Dam(water supplier in labangon and the rest of Cebu City)
That was my first time in Pamutan. I had so much fun that time. If only my parents won’t find me I’d rather choose to stay in Pamutan. Away from the noise and chaotic ambiance of the city. Living with fresh air and clear water, Woo! I couldn’t ask for more. But what can I do, I can’t leave my work and life in the city. So, after few weeks we visited the place again and this time together with our few girl friends.
